Music You'd Better Listen To RSS

MYBLT is a daily collection of songs you should be listening to.

It's also a series of short essays written as Aidan listens to the songs he's posting.

It may also be other things related to music you'd better listen to. More on that later.

You'd better be listening by now.

MYBLT is one of Aidan's many blogs.

If your song is on here and you want it taken down, email me and I'll take it off straight away.

In the meantime, I'll be respectful and link to a couple of your sites.

Hollywood Holt - Caked Up (Klever Remix)

Website (HH) / Myspace (HH) / iTunes (HH) /// Myspace (Klever)

Oh man, I was about to head out my door. What a great start *that* would be for my new music blog. Srsly.

I figured I’d post this remix of Caked Up since it’s one of my favourite Hollywood Holt tracks; it’s so bouncy and energetic — campy, but with this weird authentic energy nonetheless. I also decided to post it because I’ve been seeing Hollywood around Chicago a lot since I’ve been here.

In fact, last night I was at this weird party where Hollywood was playing with Mano, opening up for YACHT. The event was… odd. I mean, I’ve been to a bunch of weird shows in the past but this was something else entirely.

What do I mean by that?

Well, for one, there was free-flowing tequila all night. And, being nearly invincible against beer and vodka, I thought that my liver’s strength would translate. To make a long story short: it didn’t.

I wasn’t that drunk, actually, to be honest. It was just this morning that I found myself regretting it. Hangover central.

I also made a new friend because of Hollywood last night. My friend and I were taking the train back home, when we ran into a couple of people who were at the party. I can’t remember how it started, but we got into this whole discussion as to whether or not an artist’s contribution to a local scene should contribute to his or her value.

I say yes. What about you?
